What file formats can I send with this service?
This service accepts only PDF documents (.pdf), Stuffit archives (.sit, .sitx) and Zip archives (.zip).
If you need to transmit data besides PDF files, please stuff or zip them first.
Can I send native files or images such as TIFF or EPS?
Sure. Any type of file can be submitted with this service, so long
as it is compressed before sending. Compression reduces file transfer
time, and saves bandwidth and disk space.
Do I need to compress my PDF files?
No, and actually you are encouraged not to. PDF files use inherent compression internally,
so there is usually nominal if any size reduction gained through compressing PDF files.
How do I make a zip archive?
Please see the other tabs on this page for step-by-step instructions for Mac and Windows.
What is Stuffit? Do I need it?
Stuffit is a proprietary compression technology from Allume Systems, and is available
to purchase from them. There is no real benefit to using Stuffit over zip archives,
so if you are already zipping files, you do not need it. Stuffit was a very popular
compression tool for Macintosh users for many years, so it is supported here for
legacy reasons.
How many files can I send with this service?
There is no limit to the total number of files you can send, but the uploader tool
is limited to a maximum of 45 files per session. If you have more than 45 files to
send, you could either upload them in multiple batches or add them to zip archives.
Is there a limit to how big my files can be?
No single file uploaded with this system may be larger than two gigabytes (GB).
There is no total session limit, so as long as each file is under two gigabytes,
you will never reach a limit.
How do I know my upload was successful?
After a successful upload, you will be presented with a confirmation screen
showing the files that were processed in that session. You can be confident
that the upload was successful if you see that confirmation screen. If you
do not see the confirmation screen, please upload the files again.
What happens after my files have been uploaded?
Your uploaded files are stored away, and a notification email is sent to your
account coordinator. Your account coordinator may follow up with additional communication.
